As we transition into the structure of the Bayside Mission, it will be increasingly important that we promote our connectedness throughout the parishes of the Bayside Mission whilst maintaining the strong sense of identity we have at St. Joseph's and Stella Maris churches.

Therefore, at Nazareth Catholic Parish, we are seeking to expand both the Pastoral Council and the Stewardship Committee and are calling on nominations for both.

The Pastoral Council serves as a consultative body whose main purpose is to investigate, reflect and reach conclusions about pastoral matters to recommend to the parish priest.

The Stewardship Committee is a sub-committee to both the Pastoral Council and Finance Committee that harness the gifts of Time, Talent and Treasure for the work of God among us. The committee supports the various ministries and coordinates the Thanksgiving program.

We invite you to contribute your God-given strengths and abilities in support of Nazareth Catholic Parish and as Fr. Cartwright has said in recent homilies, ‘Do Not Be Afraid, Open Wide the Doors of Bayside to Jesus Christ’.

“Just a reminder that all volunteers and other personnel are required to hold and link to the parish, a current Working With Children Check and sign both Nazareth Catholic Parish Commitment Statement and Code of Conduct”

Nominations can be sent to:

Fr David Cartwright and Fr Dean Mathieson, [email protected]
Michael Staunton, Nazareth Catholic Parish Pastoral Council [email protected]
Lynn Chen, Nazareth Catholic Parish Secretary [email protected]

In these extraordinary times where our lives have been turned upside down by COVID-19 and we are living under the strain of prolonged restrictions, it is more important than ever to bring the strength of our community to those who are suffering most.

If you or someone you know is in need of support, then please reach out, either by phone or email, so that we can offer assistance.

We are calling for volunteers to assist in providing assistance to our neediest e.g. delivering groceries, picking up a prescription from the chemist or by simply having a chat on the phone.

The Bayside Mission incorporates the communities of Stella Maris (Beaumaris), St Joseph's (Black Rock), Sacred Heart (Sandringham), St Mary's (Hampton), St Joan of Arc (Brighton) and St James (Gardenvale).

Fr David Cartwright and Fr Dean Mathieson work together 'in solidum' across these faith communities and are seeking the following:

Nominations to join the Bayside Mission Communications Sub-Group

The nominee will assist with planning, managing and controlling communication across the communities of the Bayside Mission and is ideally someone who has the Time and Talent to engage with parishioners in an honest, approachable and understanding way.

“Just a reminder that all volunteers and other personnel are required to hold and link to the parish, a current Working With Children Check and sign both Nazareth Catholic Parish Commitment Statement and Code of Conduct”

Please send nominations for Communications sub-group to Lynn Chen, Nazareth Parish Secretary at [email protected]

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Working with Children Check

This weekend, the Catholic Church in Australia marks Child Protection Sunday, on which we pray for those who have been abused, their families and supporters.

We recognise and apologise for the harm done by priests, religious and lay people in Church settings. The Church takes a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse.

We recommit to practices that support survivors and make the Catholic Church and its ministries the safest possible place for children and people at risk.
