An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

November - Month of the Holy Souls

It is spiritual work of mercy to pray for the souls of our deceased friends, relatives and benefactors and to have the holy sacrifice of the Mass offered for them.

Remember the beautiful words of Saint Monica as recounted in Saint Augustine’s Confessions, when he was trying to work out where his mother would be buried. Saint Monica said, “Bury my body wherever you will; let not care of it cause you any concern. One thing only I ask you, that you remember me at the altar of the Lord wherever you may be.”

At the moment, we are unable to have November envelopes or a "Memorial book" in our churches to write in.

If you would like a Mass offered for deceased loved ones, you can go to www.baysidecatholicmission.org and the tab "Support Us", and indicate in the description section your November Mass intention.

Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord,
May perpetual light shine upon them,
May their souls, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Pilgrim Mary Statue is moving again.

It is pleasing to announce that our parish's Pilgrim Statue of Mary is recommencing her journeys around the parish.

Inviting the Statue of Mary to visit your home is always a blessing and an encouragement for prayer, especially for the family to pray together. She is a very easy visitor with only one request, that you say prayers to her every day.

Traditionally it is the rosary or part of the rosary depending upon your situation, with small children one decade of the rosary is usually plenty.

She comes with instructions and we have COVID safe policies for her movement around the parish.

We always welcome more people/families to the roster.

To add yourself or your family to the roster, please contact the parish office at [email protected] or phone on (03) 9589 2271.

Catholic 'Netflix' for Free- Formed.org

I recently heard Formed.org described as Catholic 'Netflix'! That is so true. I am amazed at the variety of material available and even better as it is much easy to find something worthwhile to watch or listen to than 'Netflix' or similar.

Formed uploads new material every day so each time I open it either on my phone or computer there is always something that catches my attention that I can add to my list to watch.

Currently I am enjoying the 30min weekly bible study of Matthew's Gospel. I am discovering that there so much I didn't know or understand about the old testament, the teaching of Jesus and the way he taught!! If you are like me, reading or studying the bible in any great detail wasn't something you did. I am trying to remedy that now. It led me this week to listen to a talk on 'Jesus and the Jewish roots of the Eucharist'. I highly recommend it, so enlightening about the mass and our Jewish roots.

There is so much more you can access with your free subscription!

If you haven't signed up yet don't forget you can sign up for free on the link Formed and use the name, Nazareth Parish Beaumaris.

St Vincent de Paul Soup Van Christmas Hampers 2020

What a year it has been!!

At one stage we thought we might not be able to prepare Christmas hampers this year but as it turns out we can and indeed the need is greater than ever.

This is our 16th year and for the past 15 years we have prepared approximately two hundred and fifty (250) hampers each year. This year we have been asked to prepare five hundred (500) hampers for Boarding House residents visited by the St Vincent de Paul Soup Van in North Melbourne and Fitzroy.

Contents, shopping, packing and delivery will look quite a bit different due to COVID-19 restrictions.

We are still waiting on final confirmation from SVDP on priority items needed, however, at this stage they will possibly be similar to previous year i.e. towels, face washers, pillow cases, toiletries and lovely Christmas gifts. Unfortunately, we are unable to include any food items (even packaged goods are not allowed) due to COVID restrictions. Food is being provided to residents by the Soup Van on a weekly basis .

I will provide a more definite list of items we need in next week's bulletin.

Monetary donations may also be made directly to the Soup Van Christmas Hamper Bank Account below:

We will pack hampers this year on Saturday 12 December and St Vincent de Paul will pick them up Sunday 13 December for delivery with the weekly food. It has been a tough year but if you can support the hampers in any way it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.
